Rev. Brad Berglund has been a pastor, church musician and worship leader for over twenty five years. His love for church music and worship began when he was a boy growing up in his Father's church and singing in the youth choir. His interests led him to earning degrees in classical guitar (studying with Doug Niedt at the conservatory of music of the University of Missouri in Kansas City) and theology (Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary). For over a decade, Brad served as one of the pastors at Calvary Baptist Church in Denver (American Baptist). There his responsibilities included worship creation and leadership, ministries of spiritual growth and creative expression, choral conducting and leading an association of churches worshiping in the style of the Taizé community. Brad has written many articles in the area of worship renewal. His books on transforming the worship experience are Reinventing Sunday: Breakthrough Ideas for Transforming Worship (Judson Press, 2001). Of this book, the eminent professor of worship studies Robert Webber says, "[This] is the book pastors and worship leaders have been waiting for" and Reinventing Worship: Prayers, Readings, Special Services and More (Judson Press, 2006). A spiritual director and retreat director, Brad has completed the spiritual directors' training program at the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Direction in Bethesda, Maryland. Currently he holds two positions: Director of Illuminated Journeys, a ministry offering pilgrimage and spiritual renewal for churches and individuals and director of Reinventing Sunday, an ecumenical ministry that offers worship consulting, worship renewal seminars, and workshops on Taizé-style worship. He enjoys working with church musicians, pastors and worship committees throughout North America.
